Decco Postharvest has joined with its Mexico distributor, Jifkins, to form the joint venture Decco Jifkins Mexico (DJM), increasing the capacity of both companies to meet the rapidly growing need for postharvest products and services throughout the country.
Production of fresh fruits and vegetables in Mexico has been steadily rising, and so has the need for postharvest products and services to protect the quality and value of this produce. Marketing and distribution of Decco Postharvest products have been provided by Jifkins for the past two years.
“Mexico is a significant production area for fresh fruits and vegetables, and both acreage and yields of these commodities are on the rise. Decco is committed to keeping pace with this growth by increasing its presence with offices, warehouses and service centers throughout Mexico, including all major fruit and vegetable states,” says Jim Sargent, general manager, Decco US, in making the announcement.
Through DJM, handlers and processors in Mexico will have direct access to a full line of shellac- and carnauba-based fruit and vegetable coatings. In addition, fungicides, disinfectants and sanitizers, along with the equipment and expertise for a complete and effective postharvest program will be available.
Ramiro González Durán, director of Jifkins, leads DJM as its new general manager. He can be reached at the Guadalajara headquarters of Decco Jifkins México SAPI de CV (phone (33) 31 21 12 37).
